Amiyatosh Purnanandam is the Denise and Ray Nixon Endowed Chair in Finance at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin. Previously, he was the Michael Stark Professor of Finance at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Purnanandam’s research focuses on bank funding, digital payments, and risk-management. He has published extensively in top journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Monetary Economics. He has served on editorial boards of several leading finance journals, including Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Review of Finance.
His research has shaped policy decisions on banking sector reforms, credit rating regulations, digital payments, consumer financial protection, and securitization by policymakers across the world. He received his PhD from Cornell University, and MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
