Scott E. Hein holds the Robert C. Brown Chair of Finance at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he has been on the faculty since 1983. He also serves as the faculty director of the Texas Tech School of Banking and serves on the faculty at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, as well as the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, where he teaches monetary and financial economics to community bankers. Hein is also a member of the Teaching Academy at Texas Tech University, which promotes teaching excellence. In 2012, Hein, along with two Texas Tech University colleagues, became co-editors of the Journal of Financial Research. He is a former senior economist of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and has served as a visiting scholar in the research departments of the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and Dallas. He has a bachelor's and master's degree in economics from the University of New Mexico and a doctorate from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
