Prithu Vatsa

Prithu Vatsa, Ph.D., has been an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Texas at El Paso since 2024. His research focuses on financial intermediation, monetary policy transmission, and bank franchise networks, with a particular interest in community banking. His current work investigates the origins of the bank deposit franchise and the effects of place-based policies. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Miami, the University of Florida, and the University of Rochester. Before joining academia, he worked in the industry financing large-scale energy projects.
