Commissioner Perspectives: Christopher Moya, New Mexico Financial Institutions Division
Acting Director Chris Moya discusses community banking in New Mexico and highlights how “community banks are the important variable in the economy of New Mexico.” Specifically, Moya shares how the State’s network of small banks support the state’s two main economic drivers: agriculture and energy. Moya comes from a family of New Mexico ranchers and goes on to discuss how he saw first-hand how important it was for his family ranch to maintain a close relationship with a locally owned and operated community bank.
